Berry Berry Banana Smoothie

Here’s a healthy way to start your morning. Get at least 2-3 servings of fruits and vegetables with your first meal of the day. Make a lot, and have some for snack time too. You make many variations of this smoothie and not get tired of it. I often prepare freezer bags with the fruit so that all I have to do is pull out one bag of fruit, add the greens, liquid, flax seeds and other supplements, and it’s so much quicker.
Smoothies are recommended by Dr. Sears as a way to help get the nutrients your body needs everyday: easy to digest, which helps you absorb more of those vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, and smoothies can also help stabilize your blood sugar. They also taste pretty darn good! Cheers!

Recipe Notes

I usually make this smoothie or a similar variety every day! It's a pretty flexible recipe to try out different flavors. I usually make this with the Green Machine juice from Naked Juice or Pom Pomegranate Juice.
To add some more healthy pizazz to this, soak hemp seeds, chia sees, pumpkins seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds or other nuts in water overnight and add to the smoothies. If soaking almonds, be sure to rinse them well before adding to your smoothie.
I typically buy spinach and power greens in bulk at Costco. We go through about 3 large tubs/bags per week in my family.
Prep Tip: Pre-measure and cut fruit, place into freezer bags so that you only have 1 bag to take out of the freezer. This is a time saver in the morning.
When different fruit is in season I add fruit like mango, or kiwi.If you don't have pineapple, leave it out. If you want to add mango, great! This smoothie is pretty flexible for what you have on hand.  I think that using homemade yogurt, which I make in the Instant Pot, and almond butter gives it a smooth and delicious flavor. I have also made some nut yogurts that taste great in this recipe!
